2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic

<div><p><b>Groot, Inc.</b>, a Waste Connections company, has an immediate opening for a <b>2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic<span> </span></b>to join our team in Elgin, IL.</p><p></p><p>Our Diesel Mechanic will work directly with the Maintenance Manager to ensure safe diagnostics and repair of our truck fleet and equipment.  We seek individuals with a leadership mentality and desire to grow with promotional opportunities in this role.</p><p></p><p><b><u>Waste Connections offers:</u></b></p><ul><li><p>Competitive Compensation. ($40 to $42/hr DOE)</p></li><li><p>Safety Bonuses – Get rewarded for your safe habits.</p></li><li><p>Yearly Boot Stipend and Company Uniforms provided.</p></li><li><p>Benefits Plans – Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Account options.</p></li><li><p>Generous matching 401(K).</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Pay rate:</b>  Competitive pay - plus approximately 5-10 hours of overtime weekly (overtime is time and a half after 40).</p><p></p><p><b>Schedule:</b> 2:00pm - until close Monday-Thursday, Friday is 12pm until 8:30pm with over time as needed plus rotating Saturdays which are 6am until 11am.</p><p></p><p><b><u>Duties and Responsibilities:</u></b></p><ul><li><p>Performs repairs (including electrical and hydraulic systems) and assigned preventive maintenance services.</p></li><li><p>Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.</p></li><li><p>Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.</p></li><li><p>Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.</p></li><li><p>Reviews and completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.</p></li><li><p>Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><u>Requirements:</u></b></p><ul><li><p>Valid Class A or B CDL with clean driving record.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work in all weather conditions.</p></li><li><p>Ability to lift at least 50lbs repeatedly.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><i>Waste Connections is an equal opportunity employer.
