The nurse practitioner is responsible for the development and evaluation of treatment plans for inpatients. The Nurse Practitioner assists in the care and management of CV surgery patients to include, but not limited to: admission history and physical, ongoing assessment, follow up, and intervention, with coordination of care for the cardiac inpatient population. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patient. Through collaborative agreements with all CV physicians, primary responsibilities include ordering, conducting, interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacologic therapies. The nurse practitioner will provide routine post procedure care to include but not limited to access site care, wound care, suture removal, coordinating and conducting pre-admission history and physical on all CV surgery patients and structural heart consults. This includes CABG, AVR, MVR, TEER, TAVR, LAAO and other surgical therapies.
