<div> <b>Job Summary:</b></div> <br/><div>Kaiser Permanente nurses are guided by an integrated nursing model that places patients and families in the center. The Lead RN II- ACC/CDU coordinates activities of the interdisciplinary team and monitors departmental throughput to ensure safe, effective, and efficient care. Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for clinical teams on departmental processes and workflows. Demonstrates sound decision-making and the ability to be self-directed. Manages patient assignments and changes in staff schedule, as needed. Addresses customer concerns or complaints in a timely manner and escalates to the manager, as needed.</div><div></br><b>Essential Responsibilities:</b></div> <br/><ul style='margin-top: 0;margin-left: 1px;margin-bottom: 0;'><li>Coordinates daily patient care activities and assignments within the department and acts as a resource for the healthcare team, providers, and ancillary departments.</li><li>Continuous rounding within the department to ensure patient throughput and flow, assisting as needed.</li><li>Utilizes the nursing process to assess patient health status, determine nursing diagnosis, establish nursing goals, and develop, implement, and evaluate the nursing plan of care.</li><li>Actively participates, as a member of the healthcare team, to engage patients, families, and caregivers in care coordination.</li><li>Monitors the condition of patients within the department and support safe patient transfer, as indicated.</li><li>Assists with procedures and monitors patients response during and after the procedure.</li><li>Autonomously perform procedures, such as conscious sedation, under physician supervision.</li><li>Utilizes advanced skills to provide consultation.</li><li>Accurately documents patient data, actions, interventions, and response to treatment according to established policies and guidelines.</li><li>Acts independently to manage patient assignments and changes in staff schedules.  <i> </i></li><li>Conducts daily equipment checks and ensures that quality controls are completed.</li><li>Evaluates emergency situations and leads the nursing response to clinical emergencies.</li><li>Initiates and monitors IV therapy, administration of medications, and other nursing procedures as prescribed by the physician or associate practitioner, and documents accordingly.</li><li>Assesses patient and family health education needs, provides health teaching and counseling, and evaluates effectiveness of the education process.</li><li>Performs direct patient care as needed.</li><li>Ensures clear communication with the healthcare team, providers, and management team using multiple avenues, including email, teams chat, and huddles.</li><li>Responds to inquiries from patients, providers, healthcare team, and internal/external customers and supports resolution.</li><li>Conducts outgoing telephone calls to patients requiring follow-up care and preventative outreach.</li><li>Leads departmental or regional performance improvement initiatives (access, quality, service, people).</li><li>Seeks and completes formal continuing education relevant to clinical discipline.</li><li>Deescalate potential volatile situations involving patients, guests, and other internal KP stakeholders and staff.</li><li>Escalates concerns following the appropriate chain of command.</li><li>Participates in departmental Quality Assurance and UBT activities and supports compliance with regulatory procedures and standards.</li><li>Serves as a preceptor, resource, and mentor for new healthcare team members and nursing students.</li><li>Participates in departmental orientation, training, and competency validation of new staff (after completion of validator training), to include departmental equipment, safe patient handling techniques, and infection prevention.</li><li>Provide at least one (1) training in-service each year and supports annual competency validation.</li><li>Model teamwork and professionalism and fosters a culture of clinical and service excellence.</li><li>Addresses patient/visitor concerns (from Real-Time-Feedback) and provides service recovery in real time.</li><li>May perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><br><div> <b>Basic Qualifications:</b></div> <div> <u>Experience</u></div> <br/><ul style='margin-top: 0;margin-left: 1px;margin-bottom: 0;'><li>Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as a Registered Professional Nurse with knowledge and subject matter expertise directly related to the department.</li><li>Minimum three (3) years of Advanced Care Center or direct Emergency Care experience.</li></ul><div> <u>Education</u></div> <br/><ul style='margin-top: 0;margin-left: 1px;margin-bottom: 0;'><li>Associates degree in nursing.<li>High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.</li></ul><div> <u>License, Certification, Registration</u></div> <ul style='margin-top: 0;margin-left: 1px;margin-bottom: 0;'><li>Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required at hire</BR></li></ul> <ul style='margin-top: 0;margin-left: 1px;margin-bottom: 0;'><li>Pediatric Advanced Life Support required at hire</BR></li></ul> <ul style='margin-top: 0;margin-left: 1px;margin-bottom: 0;'><li>Basic Life 1px;margin-bottom: 0;'><li>Advanced Care Center - TNCC, ENPC, or CCRN preferred.<li>Advanced Care Center - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) preferred.<li>Bachelors degree in nursing.</li></ul>
