The APP assesses patients, interprets diagnostic test/results, and develops and implements treatment plans to address the patient's unique needs in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. This role requires a high level of clinical expertise and the ability to work with patients who may have complex mental health needs. Psychiatry Care includes both Inpatient and Outpatient APPs working in Psychiatry/Behavioral Health Medicine. Located at Behavioral Health Unit Crisis Center (BHUC) a 24/7 facility providing timely access to mental health services for children, adolescents and adults presenting in a mental health crisis.<br><p><br /><b>Essential Job Function:</b></p><div><ul><li>Performs physical assessments of the patient, reviews their medical history, and interprets diagnostic tests/results in order to provide effective treatment for the patient.</li><li>Conducts preventive health screenings based on the patient's age, history, and unique needs to provide proactive health care.</li><li>Educates patients and their family about psychiatric medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up.</li><li>Maintains record of all patient care in order to ensure accurate patient history.</li><li>Performs psychiatric medical procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines and clinical roles.</li><li>Identifies ways to improve psychiatric patient care by assessing, problem-solving, and evaluating clinical and system issues.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul></div><p><br /><b>Education:</b></p><div><ul><li>Required: Master's Degree Nursing, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification.</li></ul></div><p><br /><b>Experience:</b></p><div><ul><li>Preferred: 1-3 years as advanced practice provider.</li></ul></div><p><br /><b>Licensure/Certification/Listing:</b></p><div><ul><li>Required: Valid NC RN and NP license or PA-C license.</li></ul></div>
