Quick Facts: Location: Oakland, CA, nd Street Start Date: 08/03/2026 Contract Duration: 26 weeks (6 months) Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (5x8 hours) Hours/week: 40 Employment Type: Contract (W-2) License/Certifications: California Optometry license; BLS required Experience: Minimum 3 years with pediatric populations, pediatrics residency highly preferred Pay & Benefits: Hourly Rate: $160.80 Pay Schedule: Weekly pay via direct deposit Benefits: Medical benefits (W-2), paid sick time, licensure, certification, travel and reimbursement as applicable, robust referral bonuses, 24/7 support team What You ll Do: Conduct comprehensive pediatric eye exams, including binocular vision and strabismus assessments Perform specialized contact lens fittings for pediatric patients, including complex cases Manage patients with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, and co-managed conditions like seizures or facial anomalies Utilize advanced imaging devices to assist diagnostics and care planning Support and collaborate with techs, ophthalmologists, and other specialists Document patient encounters in Epic EMR efficiently and accurately Provide tailored care for patients of varied cognitive abilities and complex needs What You Need: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree with CA licensure BLS certification At least 3 years of pediatric optometry experience, including complex cases; residency in pediatric optometry preferred Strong skills in binocular vision, strabismus, and contact lens fitting in children Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team About the Assignment: This outpatient pediatric optometry position is at a well-equipped facility in Oakland, CA, serving children and some adult patients with developmental and visual challenges. The department manages high-acuity and routine pediatric cases, providing a full spectrum of optometric services. Experience with advanced imaging, complex contact lenses, and managing diverse cognitive abilities is highly valued.
