<p>We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pathologist specializing in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology for a locum tenens opportunity near Wausau, Wisconsin. This role offers a dynamic work environment with a mix of scheduled clinical hours and on-call duties. The locum physician will provide coverage due to a long-term vacancy, with the potential for ongoing work. </p> <strong>Position Highlights </strong> <ul><li><strong>Start Date </strong>: January 13, 2025, with flexible start options </li><li><strong>Duration </strong>: Ongoing need, offering potential for long-term engagement </li><li><strong>Setting </strong>: Outpatient-focused, with requirements for hospital privileges </li><li><strong>Call Schedule </strong>:<ul><li>On-call rotation approximately 1:6 weekends </li><li>Weeknight call coverage 3-4 nights per month </li><li>15-minute response time required when on call </li> </ul> </li> </ul> <strong>Clinical Responsibilities </strong> <ul><li><strong>Daily Case Load </strong>: Expect to handle between 25-50 pathology cases per shift </li><li><strong>Duties Include </strong>:<ul><li>Surgical pathology </li><li>Gastrointestinal (GI) pathology, Genitourinary (GU) pathology, Neuropathology, Dermatopathology </li><li>Cytology (GYN and non-GYN), bone marrow biopsy/aspiration and interpretation </li><li>Pediatric tumor pathology, performance of fine needle aspirations (FNAs), and autopsy </li> </ul> </li><li><strong>Lab Medicine Duties </strong>:<ul><li>Grossing or cutting frozen sections </li><li>Hematology (bone marrow and lymph node analysis), microbiology, and serology </li><li>Blood bank and chemistry </li> </ul> </li> </ul> <strong>Facility & Support </strong> <ul><li><strong>Trauma Level </strong>: 2 </li><li><strong>Support Staff </strong>: Includes four office staff members, with no supervision required of advanced practice providers </li><li><strong>Electronic Medical Records (EMR) </strong>: Cerner </li><li><strong>Credentialing Timeframe </strong>: Approximately 60 days </li> </ul> <strong>Additional Requirements </strong> <ul><li><strong>Board Certification </strong>: Required in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP & CP) </li><li><strong>Licenses </strong>: Wisconsin license required, with a preference for candidates also holding a Michigan license for multi-site slide reading </li><li><strong>Holidays Covered </strong>: Includes major holidays such as New Years Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving </li> </ul> <strong>Travel & Accommodation </strong> <ul><li><strong>Airport </strong>: Nearest major airport is Central Wisconsin Airport </li><li><strong>Lodging </strong>: Recommendations include Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, and Hotel options in the area </li> </ul><p>This is an excellent opportunity for a Pathologist looking to engage in diverse casework in a supportive environment.
