Cardiothoracic Surgeon Locum Tenens Opportunity near Traverse City, MI (ASAP - Ongoing) <p>We are currently seeking a <strong>Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon </strong> for a locum tenens position near Traverse City, MI. This role offers a unique opportunity for a skilled surgeon to provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care in a hospital-based setting. The assignment requires on-call services and includes a mix of elective and emergent surgeries. </p><p>This locum tenens role is ideal for a physician who is flexible, experienced, and ready to jump into a busy environment with excellent support staff, including APPs and RNs dedicated to cardiothoracic care. The position requires a surgeon to manage inpatient consults and surgeries, as well as to provide urgent on-call services. There is no clinic coverage required. </p> Position Details: <ul><li><strong>Position Type: </strong> Locum Tenens, Cardiothoracic Surgery (Hospital-based). </li><li><strong>Assignment Duration: </strong> ASAP - Ongoing. </li><li><strong>Shift Type: </strong> Days. </li><li><strong>Call Requirements: </strong> 24/7 call coverage, including cath lab and emergency surgeries. </li><li><strong>Weekend Requirements: </strong> 48-hour on-call coverage for both Saturday and Sunday. </li> </ul> Responsibilities: <ul><li>Manage <strong>urgent cardiothoracic cases </strong> and be available for <strong>24/7 on-call services </strong>. </li><li>Perform <strong>elective and emergent surgeries </strong> in a hospital setting. </li><li>Handle <strong>inpatient consults </strong> and cover the <strong>cath lab </strong> for cardiovascular emergencies. </li><li>Carry a <strong>small outpatient panel </strong> (if possible) to follow up on cardiothoracic cases. </li><li>Serve as the <strong>second call </strong> surgeon, with a <strong>first assist APP </strong> available. </li><li>Collaborate with support staff, including <strong>1-3 APPs </strong>, who assist with rounding and patient care. </li><li>Ensure smooth operations with the support of a <strong>dedicated RN </strong> to facilitate scheduling and care coordination. </li> </ul> Schedule: <ul><li><strong>Monday to Friday: </strong> Days with scheduled shifts and call coverage. </li><li><strong>Weekend Coverage: </strong> 48-hour on-call coverage for urgent surgeries. </li><li><strong>On-Call: </strong> 24/7 availability for emergencies after gratis and scheduled shift hours. </li> </ul> Key Information: <ul><li><strong>Setting: </strong> 100% hospital-based role with <strong>no clinic coverage required </strong>. </li><li><strong>Patient Demographic: </strong> Adult. </li><li><strong>Support: </strong> OR, radiology, and lab services available onsite. </li><li><strong>Volume: </strong> Approximately 10 surgeries per month for a full-time provider. </li><li><strong>EMR System: </strong> Cerner. </li> </ul> Qualifications: <ul><li><strong>Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery: </strong> Required. </li><li><strong>BLS Certified: </strong> Required. </li><li><strong>Active Michigan Medical License: </strong> Required. </li> </ul> Compensation: <ul><li><strong>On-Call Rate: </strong> Must include 4 hours of gratis within the on-call rate. </li> </ul><p>This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned cardiothoracic surgeon to provide critical care to patients in a well-supported hospital setting.
