<strong>Neurosurgery NP/PA Outpatient Clinic (Academic Medical Center) </strong> <p><strong>Start Date: </strong> October 20, 2025<br><strong>Contract Length: </strong> 4 6 months<br><strong>Location: </strong> California (CA license required)<br><strong>Schedule: </strong> Monday Friday, 8 AM 5 PM (No weekends or holidays)<br><strong>Setting: </strong> Outpatient clinic within an academic medical center </p> <strong>Position Overview </strong> <p>We are seeking an experienced <strong>NP or PA </strong> to join a high-performing outpatient neurosurgery team. This is a full-time locum opportunity supporting a <strong>neuro-spine surgery clinic </strong> with a strong academic focus. The APP will work closely with the <strong>Vice Chair of Neurosurgery </strong>, a high-volume, high-expectation surgeon, and must demonstrate clinical competence in neuro-spine care. </p> <strong>Key Responsibilities </strong> <ul><li>Manage post-op and follow-up visits for neuro-spine patients </li><li>Conduct physical exams, triage patient calls, order imaging and medications </li><li>Perform outpatient procedures such as staple/drain removal and wound care </li><li>Collaborate with a team of 7 APPs, 5 surgeons, 2 physiatrists, MAs, and patient navigators </li><li>Support patients/day in person; up to 26/day with telehealth </li><li>No OR or inpatient responsibilities strictly outpatient clinic </li> </ul> <strong>Required Experience & Skills </strong> <ul><li><strong>2 3 years </strong> in <strong>ortho spine surgery </strong>, <strong>neuro spine surgery </strong>, or <strong>pain management </strong> with spine patients </li><li>Experience in <strong>academic medical centers </strong> is <strong>strongly preferred </strong> </li><li>Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic </li><li>Familiarity with <strong>Epic EMR </strong> </li><li>Bonus: Experience with trigger point, hip, or knee injections </li> </ul> <strong>Licensure & Certifications </strong> <ul><li><strong>CA license required </strong> </li><li><strong>DEA </strong> with Schedule II and IIN required </li><li><strong>BLS certification required </strong> </li> </ul><p><strong>For PAs: </strong> </p><ul><li>Must hold a Master s degree in Physician Assistant Studies </li> </ul><p><strong>For NPs: </strong> </p><ul><li>Accepted certifications include:<ul><li>A-GNP-C </li><li>ANP-C </li><li>FNP-C </li><li>GNP-C </li><li>AGPCNP-BC </li><li>ANP-BC </li><li>FNP-BC </li><li>GNP-BC </li><li>ACNP-BC </li><li>AGACNP-BC </li><li>ACNPC-AG </li><li>ACNPC </li> </ul> </li> </ul> <strong>Additional Notes </strong> <ul><li>APPs are not utilized in the OR; surgical time is reserved for residents and fellows </li><li>Patient population is strictly adult neuro-spine cases </li><li>This is a <strong>clinic-only </strong> role with no inpatient or surgical responsibilities </li> </ul>
