This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced provider who thrives in an autonomous hospital setting and enjoys collaborative, team-based patient care.</div><div><br></div><div>This role is ideal for Nurse Practitioners with Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Hospitalist, or Med-Surg experience who are confident making independent clinical decisions while having physician support readily available when needed.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Compensation & Schedule</strong></div><ul><li>7 on / 7 off nocturnal schedule</li><li>Shifts: 4:30pm - 4:30am or 6:00pm - 6:00am</li><li>Competitive compensation based on experience:</li><li>0-2 years: $141,900</li><li>2.1-5 years: $148,500</li><li>5.1-10 years: $159,500</li><li>10+ years: $167,200</li><li>Additional nocturnist differential available</li><li>$5,000 sign-on bonus</li><li>CME allowance</li><li>401(k) profit sharing retirement plan</li><li>Health, dental, and vision insurance options</li><li>Flexible spending accounts</li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong>Job Summary</strong></div><div>As a Nocturnal Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner, you will provide overnight coverage and first-call response for hospitalized Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Cardiology, and Hematology-Oncology patients. You will perform admissions, assess acute patient needs, and collaborate closely with physicians and inpatient teams to ensure high-quality patient care throughout the night shift.</div><div><br></div><div>This position offers a high level of autonomy while maintaining strong physician support and a collaborative team environment. Two APPs are scheduled on every night shift, and a backup physician is always available for escalation and consultation.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></div><ul><li>Provide overnight first-call coverage for hospitalized patients within:</li><li>Internal Medicine</li><li>Family Medicine</li><li>Cardiology</li><li>Hematology-Oncology</li><li>Perform hospital admissions</li><li>Respond to acute patient needs and changes in condition</li><li>Take first calls from answering services regarding hospitalized patients</li><li>Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams</li><li>Exercise strong independent clinical judgment overnight</li><li>Escalate patient concerns appropriately to backup physicians when necessary</li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong>Qualifications</strong></div><ul><li>Master’s degree required</li><li>Licensed Nurse Practitioner required</li><li>FNP-C, AGACNP, ACNP, or related certification preferred</li><li>Prior Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Hospitalist, or Med-Surg experience strongly preferred</li><li>Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills</li><li>Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment</li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills</li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong>Why Des Moines?</strong></div><div>Des Moines offers an exceptional quality of life with a low cost of living, short commute times, excellent schools, and a strong healthcare community.
