PA, Physician Assistant - Inpatient Gastroenterology/GI

<p><strong>Description</strong><br></p><p>Job Summary</p><p>We are seeking a <strong>Physician Assistant</strong> to join our <strong>Inpatient Gastroenterology team in Longview, TX</strong>. This role is focused exclusively on <strong>inpatient GI coverage</strong>, working collaboratively with a gastroenterologist to manage the inpatient GI service. The APP will play a key role in evaluating consults, rounding on patients, and supporting continuity of care in a hospital-based setting.</p><p></p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Evaluate and manage <strong>initial ER and floor consults</strong> for gastroenterology patients</p></li><li><p>Perform daily inpatient rounding on GI patients</p></li><li><p>Collaborate closely with the gastroenterologist to provide comprehensive inpatient GI coverage</p></li><li><p>Assess and manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions</p></li><li><p>Order, interpret, and manage labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies</p></li><li><p>Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary teams</p></li><li><p>Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans</p></li><li><p>Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Qualifications</p><ul><li><p>Current Texas license as a Physician Assistant</p></li><li><p>National certification (NCCPA)</p></li><li><p>Previous inpatient, gastroenterology, hospital medicine, or internal medicine experience preferred</p></li><li><p>Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a hospital-based setting</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication and teamwork skills</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Schedule & Compensation</p><ul><li><p><strong>Inpatient only</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>7 on / 7 off schedule (Thursday-Wednesday)</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)</strong></p></li><li><p>Competitive compensation based on experience</p></li><li><p>Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, malpractice coverage, PTO, CME allowance, and a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Why Longview?</p><p>Longview offers a welcoming East Texas community with affordable living, excellent schools, and a growing healthcare presence.
