<p><strong>Job Title: </strong>Physician Assistant</p><p><strong>Reports to: </strong>EHM<strong> </strong>PA Regional Managers</p><p><strong>Appointment: </strong>Full time</p><p><strong>Exempt/Non-exempt:</strong> Exempt</p><p><strong>Compensation:</strong> 200k-250k annually</p><p><strong> Job Summary: </strong>The float PA is prepared to deliver primary health care, including but not limited to: recognition and management of common illnesses and injuries in the Emergency</p><p>Department and/or inpatient setting (HM, ICU), some of which may be determined by protocol; provision of care across the health care continuum with emphasis on the early detection and treatment of disease, as well as prevention.</p><p> <strong>Essential Non-Clinical Functions of Job</strong></p><p>* PA must be flexible and have the ability to travel to various RWJBarnabas locations on a regular basis based on staffing needs.</p><p>* PA must be able to work proficiently in HM, EM, and ICU</p><p> <strong>Essential Clinical Functions of Job</strong></p><p>* Work clinical shifts</p><p>* Membership to the medical staff and/or allied health staff</p><p>* Maintains appropriate certifications, licenses, and hospital privileges</p><p>* Obtains and records patient history and performs physical examinations</p><p>* Responsible for completing a medical screening exam</p><p>* Perform diagnostic and therapeutic studies</p><p>* Orders diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies or other therapies as appropriate</p><p>* Establishes diagnostic decision-making and initiates a treatment plan, which may include ordering medications, additional therapeutic modalities, etc.</p><p>* Coordinates patient care with other members of the health care team. Initiates consultation request to other health professionals to provide more comprehensive patient management.</p><p>* Instructs and counsels patients regarding mental and physical health; referring patients to appropriate specialists/resources</p><p>* Adequately manages patient flow in the ED/HM/ICU</p><p>* Performing other procedures as allowed by state law and under the direction of your supervising or collaborating physician</p><p>* Active participation in department staff meetings and risk management education</p><p>* Thorough and timely chart completion</p><p>* Completes required courses, i.e. HIPAA, EMTALA and other CME /CEU requirements</p><p>* Must be able work extended hours including weekdays, overnights, weekends, and holidays</p><p> <strong>KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS</strong></p><p>* Medical knowledge, broad based understanding of clinical emergency and hospital medicine</p><p>* Strong communication skills, written and verbal</p><p>* Maintains good working relationships with ED/HM/ICU team and hospital medical staff</p><p>* Excellent organizational and time management skills</p><p>* Works within legal, regulatory and ethical practice standards</p><p>* Flexibility with scheduling and willing to help out with urgent scheduling needs</p><p> <strong>EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE</strong></p><p>* Must have a minimum of 5 years relevant EM, HM, and/or ICU experience, ideally candidate will be proficient in all.</p><p>* Certification in applicable professional boards (NCCPA, etc)</p><p>* Licenses to practice in the applicable State</p><p>* Encourage active membership in a professional and state organizations<br></p><p><strong>EHM Float PA Guidelines</strong></p><p><strong> </strong>Employment will be governed by the policies of RWJBarnabas Health. HR offer letter will outline eligibility of benefits along with terms and conditions of employment.</p><p> The purpose is to provide support to EHM/RWJBH sites with temporary staffing shortages</p><p> Float APP will be provided monthly assignments by EHM APP leadership with a minimum of 6 weeks' notice. </p><p>After monthly assignments are finalized by APP Regional Managers, Float APP will directly communicate with APP site leadership/scheduler to determine scheduling. It is understood, due to scheduling challenges that the site may not provide in entirety the requested dates but a good faith effort is in place. </p><p> Prior to the first clinical shift at a new site, a minimum of one orientation shift will be scheduled.</p><p> Scheduling preference will be given to SST clinicians with regard to the following:</p><ul><li><p>Float clinicians will provide a minimum of one but no more than 2 weekends a month (which include a Friday, Saturday or a Saturday, Sunday) unless otherwise agreed to.</p></li><li><p>Float will provide a fair share of nights (up to half of their schedule per month), unless otherwise agreed to.</p></li><li><p>Float clinician will provide availability for one "summer" holiday (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day) and one "winter" holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)</p></li></ul>
