Visit nchjobs.org to learn more.<br><br><b>JOB SUMMARY</b><br><br>The Medical Assistant/X-Ray is responsible for providing basic care to clinic patients following established standards and practices. <br><br><b>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b><br><br>- Other duties may be assigned. <br><br> Triage patients by injury or illness. <br><br> Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow <br><br> Escorting patients to exam/procedure rooms. Observes, records and reports patients' conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to providers. <br><br> Assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. <br><br> Collecting patient history including current medications, allergies, symptoms, etc. <br><br> Provide patient care as directed by provider; this may include screenings, treatments in accordance with nursing standards. <br><br> Assisting providers with various procedures as needed. <br><br> Documenting patient charts and relaying information & instructions to patient/family. Document all interventions, phone calls, patient/family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, hospital data, etc. in medical record. <br><br> Answering patient phone calls & messages and acting as a communication liaison between the patient and provider. <br><br> Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include filing or sending medical records to a patient or referral provider; appointment scheduling. <br><br> Collection and handling of lab specimens following established standards and practices. Adhere to infection control safety guidelines, maintaining equipment, instruments, and stock supplies. <br><br> Utilizes electronic referrals process to complete requested physician referrals to NCHMD specialists and ancillary services. <br><br> Performs diagnostic x-ray with minimal exposure to self or patients. Correctly identifies patient prior to exam, introduce self and receive signature for ABN if required. Keep radiology area stocked. <br><br><b>EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS</b><br><br> Minimum of High School or GED required. <br><br> Completion of Medical Assistant or practical nursing training program with documented clinical practicum hours; OR Medical Assistant certification; OR a minimum of one-year experience in medical office setting as a Medical Assistant or like role. <br><br><b> Current Florida Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BMO) License. </b><br><br> Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. <br><br> Verified ability to take accurate patient vital signs. <br><br> Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively articulate and explain required information to patients. <br><br> Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes. <br><br> Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows <br><br> Knowledge of basic and specialty specific medical terminology. <br><br> Capable of working under pressure in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions while maintaining a professional demeanor and control.
