Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with any experience within the last 36 months (3 years).

• Travel experience is preferred.

• 3 months of Epic experience is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a North Carolina license or compact license (required for submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >80 miles from facility to be submitted.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: AMN Program - ECU Health (Vidant Health) and no current placement allowed at Program: AMN Program - ECU Health (Vidant Health).

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience: IV insertion. Float experience does not count toward the unit experience requirement.

Unit Details: Assists providers with bedside procedures. General Med-Surg patient population includes COPD exacerbation, acute renal failure, sepsis, UTI, pneumonia, syncope, anemia, hip and ankle fractures, bowel obstruction, cellulitis, dehydration, diabetes, hepatic encephalopathy, stroke/TIA, chronic CHF, PE, GI bleed, failure to thrive, non-healing wounds, renal insufficiency/acute kidney injury, comfort care, oncology, and post-op care including recovery from cardiac cath and abdominal surgeries such as lap choles, lap appendectomies, hernia repairs, and bowel resections. Procedures and treatments include peritoneal dialysis, chest tube setup/care, continuous bladder irrigation, bedside incision and drainage, central lines, thoracentesis, paracentesis, wound vacs, Buck’s traction, breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPap, trach care, post-op drains, tube feeding, tracheostomy, and catheterization (foley and suprapubic). Uses ancillary staff support with a care delivery model that includes charge nurse, primary nurse, and NA support. Common equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omni feeding pumps, SCD machines, IsoAir mattress pumps, Tpumps, AccuChek, vein finder, glucose meter, Welch Allyn vital signs machine, computers on wheels, and Banyan phones.

Floating Requirements: Float to any nursing area as needed and as census allows.

5 days maximum time off. Facility holidays: 10/31/2026, 11/26/2026, 12/24/2026, 12/25/2026, 12/31/2026. Number of holidays allowed off: 1

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
