<p><strong><u>Department:</u></strong> Surgery - Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC)</p><p><strong><u>Schedule:</u></strong> Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Mid-shift hours negotiable)<br />FTE: 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent</p><p><strong><u>Position Summary:</u></strong><br />This Physician Assistant position is a key member of the Acute Care Surgery & Critical Care (ACS&CC) team, providing clinical support in the emergency department (ED) during peak hours for trauma and surgical patients. The PA will collaborate closely with attending surgeons, surgical residents, of the ACS &CC care team to deliver high-quality care to surgical patients.</p><strong><u>Primary Responsibilities:</u></strong><br /><ul><li>Represent the ACS&CC team in the Emergency Room as a provider</li><li>Provide back up for inpatient medical-surgical floor ACS APP providers</li><li>Perform ED consultations with comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations for the ACS&CC service line</li><li>Perform procedures and wound care as required in the ED</li><li>Deliver care to patients of the ACS&CC division that are "boarded" in the ED</li><li>Respond to Level 3 traumas and provide trauma consultations.</li><li>Coordinate patient discharges and ensure follow-up care is arranged</li><li>Respond to Emergency Department ACS&CC consults and provide timely evaluations</li><li>Document all clinical encounters and procedures accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)</li><li>Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members</li><li>Effectively partner with other members of the ACS & CC team (surgeons, APP, residents, medical students)</li><li>Weekday or Weekend Shifts</li><li>Conduct one quality improvement project annually</li><li>Support the mission of education, research and quality</li><li>Contribute to care team meetings</li></ul><strong><u>Qualifications:</u></strong><br /><ul><li>Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.</li><li>Current NYS licensure and national certification (NCCPA).</li><li>BLS and ACLS certifications required.</li><li>Willing to audit or ATLS certified</li><li>1-2 years of relevant experience in surgical or inpatient care preferred.</li><li>Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.</li></ul><strong>We offer a highly competitive benefits package, including:</strong><br /><ul><li>Competitive base salary range $130,145-$151,836 depending on academic rank with additional incentive bonus opportunity</li><li>Comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision)</li><li>Generous paid time off and holiday schedule</li><li>Albany Med retirement plan plus a 403(b)</li><li>Annual CME allowance and dedicated CME time</li><li>Occurrence-based malpractice coverage</li><li>Employee wellness programs and mental health support</li></ul><p><strong>Albany Medical Center</strong> is the centerpiece of medicine, research, and medical education in New York's Capital Region and is the area's largest private employer with more than 10,000 employees.</p><p>Albany Medical Center offers excellent career opportunities in a wide range of roles in both patient care and administration.
