Position Overview
As a Gastroenterologist at Honolulu VA, you will provide comprehensive GI care, leveraging a fully integrated electronic health record and working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide outpatient and inpatient consultative gastroenterology care for a diverse panel of Veterans
Perform and interpret endoscopic procedures, including EGD, colonoscopy, and advanced interventions as credentialed
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of digestive and liver diseases using evidence-based practices
Prescribe medications, order/interpret labs and imaging, and initiate consults to related specialties
Participate in the GI call schedule with shared after-hours and weekend responsibilities as negotiated
Collaborate with primary care, surgery, pathology, radiology, nursing, and specialty services for coordinated Veteran care
Educate, supervise, and mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and advanced practice providers
Participate in peer review, quality improvement initiatives, multidisciplinary meetings, and system redesign
Maintain timely, thorough clinical documentation in accordance with VA standards
Provide telehealth care as appropriate to improve access for Hawaii and Pacific Islands Veterans
Complete other duties as assigned by Chief of Gastroenterology or facility leadership
