Position Overview
As a Gastroenterologist at Honolulu VA, you will provide comprehensive GI care, leveraging a fully integrated electronic health record and working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide outpatient and inpatient consultative gastroenterology care for a diverse panel of Veterans

  • Perform and interpret endoscopic procedures, including EGD, colonoscopy, and advanced interventions as credentialed

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of digestive and liver diseases using evidence-based practices

  • Prescribe medications, order/interpret labs and imaging, and initiate consults to related specialties

  • Participate in the GI call schedule with shared after-hours and weekend responsibilities as negotiated

  • Collaborate with primary care, surgery, pathology, radiology, nursing, and specialty services for coordinated Veteran care

  • Educate, supervise, and mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and advanced practice providers

  • Participate in peer review, quality improvement initiatives, multidisciplinary meetings, and system redesign

  • Maintain timely, thorough clinical documentation in accordance with VA standards

  • Provide telehealth care as appropriate to improve access for Hawaii and Pacific Islands Veterans

  • Complete other duties as assigned by Chief of Gastroenterology or facility leadership
