Senior Staff Attorney Insurance Defense

The Hartford – Senior Staff Attorney, Insurance Defense (Remote). The position is fully remote and requires location in the State of Florida.

Overview

We are a dedicated insurance company seeking a seasoned attorney to provide litigation defense for Auto and General Liability cases. You will work with claim centers and insureds to deliver best results.

Responsibilities

Analyze complex legal issues with extensive research.
Develop and present defense strategies from inception to trial.
Prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs.
Provide timely legal advice and services.
Communicate professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
Participate in claims file reviews.
Conduct trials, depositions, arbitration, and mediations independently.
Attend continuing legal education to maintain proficiency.

Qualifications

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and Florida license required.
Minimum 7 years of bodily injury claims experience with proven trial expertise.
First chair jury trial experience preferred, not required.
Expertise in legal research and motion practice.
Positive, collaborative team‑player attitude.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office; LexisNexis experience is a plus.
Self‑directed with strong organizational and prioritization skills.

Additional Details

Remote work from home in Florida.
10–15% travel within Florida for court and file appearances.

Compensation

Annualized base pay range: $128,000 – $192,000. Pay may vary based on performance and other factors. Total compensation includes bonuses, incentives, and recognition.
