Are you a technically sharp accounting professional with deep expertise in corporate tax compliance and lease administration — and the organizational discipline to manage both functions across a complex, multi-entity organization?
As Accounting Manager for Tax Compliance and Lease Administration at MCE, you will serve as the primary internal point of contact for all corporate tax matters — managing relationships with external tax advisors, coordinating multi-state filings, and ensuring every deadline is met. Alongside that, you will own the full lifecycle of MCE's real estate and equipment lease portfolio: lease accounting under ASC 842, critical date management, ROU asset and liability reconciliations, and coordination with operations, legal, and procurement across 25+ companies and 60+ locations. This is a high-ownership role for a proactive, detail-driven accounting manager who thrives in a fast-moving, acquisition-oriented environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Company-paid life, AD&D, and short- and long-term disability insurance.
- 401(k) with a generous company match.
- Generous PTO and paid holidays.
- Tuition reimbursement — we invest in your development.
- Paid parental leave.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Voluntary benefit products.
What You'll Do
Tax Compliance and Tax Management
- Serve as the primary internal contact for all corporate tax matters across MCE's portfolio of subsidiaries.
- Manage relationships with outsourced tax providers, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tax filings.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of federal, state, local, sales and use, property, franchise, gross receipts, and other applicable tax returns.
- Monitor tax filing calendars; ensure all deadlines and tax payments are met without exception.
- Review tax returns and supporting schedules for completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness prior to filing.
- Gather and validate information requested by external tax advisors and auditors; coordinate responses to tax notices and inquiries from taxing authorities.
- Assist with tax provisions and related financial reporting requirements.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations; assess and communicate impacts on the organization.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and integrations by coordinating tax due diligence and post-acquisition compliance activities.
- Maintain tax records, documentation, and compliance files; identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiency.
Lease Administration and Asset Contract Management
- Manage MCE's full portfolio of real estate leases — offices, warehouses, branch locations, and other facilities — including key terms, renewal options, notice periods, critical dates, and landlord contacts.
- Coordinate lease renewals, amendments, terminations, expansions, and relocations with management, legal counsel, and external counterparties.
- Administer the company's equipment lease and financing portfolio — operating leases, finance leases, vehicle and fleet agreements, and other long-term asset contracts.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 842 lease accounting requirements; prepare and maintain lease accounting schedules, ROU asset calculations, lease liability reconciliations, and related journal entries.
- Track rent escalations, usage-based payments, CAM charges, and other contractual obligations; review and approve lease-related invoices.
- Monitor equipment lease expirations; coordinate renewals, buyouts, returns, or replacements with operations and procurement.
- Support acquisition activities by reviewing lease portfolios, identifying obligations, and coordinating lease transfers or assignments.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations on lease-versus-buy decisions and other asset financing alternatives.
General Accounting and Financial Reporting
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; prepare and review account reconciliations and journal entries for tax, lease, and other assigned accounts.
- Assist with external audits and provide supporting documentation as requested.
- Develop and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures related to tax compliance and lease administration.
- Participate in special projects, process improvement initiatives, and acquisition integrations.
Qualifications: What We're Looking For
Must Have:
- 7 to 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with direct responsibility for corporate tax compliance and lease administration.
- Strong experience managing multi-state tax filings and compliance requirements through external tax service providers.
- Hands-on ASC 842 lease accounting experience — ROU asset calculations, lease liability reconciliations, and related journal entries.
- Experience managing real estate and equipment lease portfolios across multiple locations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
- Strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
Nice to Have:

- Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, and complex multi-location organizations.
- Public accounting background is a plus.
- Experience with lease accounting software and lease management systems.
