Field Coordinator and Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor (Remote)

invites applicants to apply fora full-time, twelve (12) month Assistant/Associate/ClinicalProfessor position.

The MSW Program offers a specialized practice concentration inhealth care and social work, with opportunities for students tofocus further in health-related and behavioral health areas. Thecurriculum follows the competency-based education model of theCouncil on Social Work Education (CSWE) and integratesinter-professional and simulation lab training activities.

The accelerated hybrid program includes a sixteen (16) monthaccelerated sequence for students with any bachelor's degree exceptfor social work and a twelve (12) month advanced standing optionfor students with a bachelor's degree in social work.

The MSW Field Coordinator faculty at the University of the Pacificis responsible for providing all aspects of didactic and clinicaleducation for the Program and participating in cross-teachingactivities within the School of Health Sciences, emphasizing FieldEducation.

Familiarity with field-related aspects of CSWE accreditationstandards preferred.

Scholarship activities are valued at the University of the Pacificand are incorporated into all faculty roles.

This position is intended to support field education activities andagency partnerships in Southern California, with a primary focus onthe Los Angeles region. Candidates must reside in or be able toregularly travel throughout the Southern California/Los Angelesarea to fulfill field education responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Assistance and management of all assigned aspects of fieldeducation programming for the MSW program.
  • Participation in the CSWE accreditation process, in conjunctionwith leadership for the field education components of theprocess.
  • Participation in curriculum development, with leadership withinthe field education components of the curriculum, includingeffective linkages between field education and the didacticcurriculum.
  • Participation in department meetings, college, and universitycommittees.
  • Academic duties include academic advising and career mentoring,classroom teaching, and participation in course assignments in ateam-teaching environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provide assistance in the recruitment, development, andapproval of internship sites locally and across the state ofCalifornia for hybrid and/or online tracks.
  • Collaborating with agencies to build partnerships, respond tochanging needs, and resolve concerns or problems under theleadership of the Field Director.
  • Participate in the assignment of faculty and students to fieldclasses.
  • Coaching and mentoring field education faculty and students,including organizing and overseeing professional mentoringactivities for students.
  • Utilizing and maintaining program and student data ininternship tracking software.
  • Providing advising support for students in conjunction withinternship issues.
  • Responding to student and/or agency emergency needs in a timelymanner.
  • Teach field seminars and courses in the MSW Program.
  • Participation in the CSWE accreditation process.
  • Scholarship Expectations:

Thus, collaborative projects with community organizationsand public agencies, within the MSW program, and with other healthsciences or other programs in the University will beencouraged.

Service Expectations:

Service is expected to the Program, the University, the communityand the MSW profession. This may include committee work and otheractivities such as participation in faculty development activities,student-faculty functions, and in graduation and convocationceremonies.

General Workload Distribution:

Workload varies by trimester, but is assigned by the ProgramDirector in consultation with the Director of Field Education.Emphasis is placed on balancing the academic requirements teaching,scholarship, and service over the course of each year. The specificworkload and scheduling will be adjusted based on the needs of thefaculty members and the program.

Promotion and Tenure & Annual Faculty Evaluations:

This is a non-tenure track position. The initial academic rank ofAssistant or Associate Clinical Professor will be determined by thepromotion and tenure committee, based upon the individual'squalifications and experience.

Faculty members maintain a dossier, which provides documentation oftheir activities and accomplishments during their academic careers. This document is valuable for planning and maintaining balance inactivities and serves as essential documentation for promotionreview by the University.

Faculty members' activities and accomplishments in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service are evaluated yearly by the MSWProgram Director, with these evaluations being forwarded to theDean of the School of Health Sciences. Yearly evaluations may also be used to determine merit salary increases.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work from a program that isaccredited by Council on Social Work Education.
  • Minimum two (2) years post-graduate employment experience.
  • One (1) year of employment in a direct practice social worksetting.
  • Must reside in the Southern California/Los Angeles region or beable to regularly travel throughout the region to support fieldeducation partnerships, internship site development, and studentplacements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic experience in Bachelor or Master of Social WorkEducation.
  • Clinical supervision experience with MSW students andgraduates.
  • Emphasis on social work practice in teaching and professionalwork.
  • Strong knowledge, skills and experience in working with diversestudents and client/patient populations.
  • Experience with hybrid and online pedagogy.
  • Experience with social work field education, placements,curriculum, and seminars.
  • Ability to work as a team with administrators, fellow faculty,staff, and students.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diversebackgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity,and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practicesand knowledge in their work.

Requires extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wristmotion while using a computer keyboard and phone. Occasionalstanding, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, andreaching. Occasional lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:

The specificworkload and scheduling will be adjusted based on the needs of thefaculty members and the program. Travel required up to twentypercent (20%) of total time based on field program needs.

Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive forUniversity business. The University and its insurance carrierreserves the right to exclude applicants based on their drivingrecord.
