Technical Writer

(Kenner, LA): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Technical Writer to create and maintain technical documentation, dimensional drawings, parts illustrations, and service information for industrial equipment.

Essential Duties:

• Create, maintain, and update dimensional drawings and parts illustrations.

• Develop accurate 2D dimensioned drawings and 3D solid models using AutoCAD.

• Use engineering 3D models, photographs, measurements, and factory information to develop technical documentation.

• Create parts pages and service pictorial information for Parts and Service Manuals.

• Collaborate with engineers to determine dimensions, technical details, and written instructions.

• Conduct research to ensure technical information and terminology are accurate.

• Visit manufacturing and production areas to photograph, inspect, measure, and document equipment and components.

• Provide technical illustrations, drawings, and supporting graphics for technical publications.

• Maintain organized files and documentation for drawings, illustrations, photographs, and related technical information.

• Track projects and priorities to ensure documentation is completed within established deadlines.

• Assist with formatting, editing, and publishing technical documentation using applicable software.

Requirements/Skills:

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in technical writing, technical illustration, drafting, engineering documentation, or a related field.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Technical Writing, Engineering, Drafting, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D solid modeling, including the ability to create and modify complex 3D models.

• Experience with Creo, CorelDRAW, Adobe Photoshop, Arbortext, and Adobe publishing software.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, photographs, measurements, and other technical information.

• Experience creating technical documentation, parts illustrations, service manuals, or engineering drawings.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and technical publications staff.

Physical Requirements:

• Regular access to manufacturing and factory areas is required.

• Ability to safely access equipment, including climbing ladders and working around, over, and underneath machinery.

• Ability to work around operating machinery, noise, moving equipment, and other typical industrial conditions.

• Must follow all applicable safety policies and procedures when working in production areas.
